50% of the groceries on our shelves contain palm oil, and it’s killing orangutans. Palm oil is often hidden, and if you don’t know what you’re looking for you’d never know you’re consuming it. Today on World Orangutan Day, do orangutans a favor and commit these names to memory – they are all other names for palm oil:

Vegetable oil (if product contains saturated fats, it's most likely palm oil!!)
Anything containing “stearate, stearyl”
Anything containing the words “cetyl, cetearyl” ...
Sodium Lauryl Sulphate (SLS)
Sodium Laureth Sulphate
Sodium Dodecyl Sulphate
(SDS or NaDS) Sodium
Calcium Stearoyl Lactylate Steareth -2
Steareth -20 Emulsifier 422, 430-36, 465-67, 470-8, 481-483

Check your bread, biscuits, noodles, sandwich spreads, soap, shampoo, makeup…check for these ingredients and find an alternative. For a palm oil free grocery list please visit either of the below links (or do a quick google for a list relevant to your country):
