
Australian Supreme Court Validates Opposition to James Point Gas Hub
Last year’s Sea Shepherd’s Operation Kimberly Miinimbi exposed the lies of in the environmental assessment by the Woodside Corporation and the Western Australian government. Woodside canceled the project but the government of Colin Barnett kept pushing for the project nonetheless. Today the Australian Supreme Court’s Chief Justice Wayne Martin ruled that three of the Environmental Protection Authority's (EPA) decisions to grant approval to the project were unlawful and invalid.
Last August, Operation Kimberly Miinimbi was led by Bob Brown with the Sea Shepherd ship Steve Irwin captained by Mal Holland.
Thanks to the combined efforts of Sea Shepherd, The Green Party, the Aboriginal communities of Western Australia and the Australian Wilderness Society this environmentally destructive project has been shut down.
