LAST DAY OF THE SCIENTIFIC COMMITTEE OF IWC - Less than 20% of Maui's dolphin habitat is protected against fishing methods that are known to kill them It therefore comes as no suprise that fishing is decimating the last 55 Maui's dolphins 75.5% faster than what is sustainable. Yet, the options and recommendations of the NZ government will do nothing to stop their decline and do not even include full protection as an available choice.
